Turning a Bad Day into a good one

As much as I would like to say “Shopping” is the answer to everything.  It isn’t always, the answer.  However there is many things you can do that will turn your day around.

worrytext

One of the biggest things that can cause a bad day is Worry.  Worrying will get you down, you play over and over all the scenes in your head and you always start with the worse case scenario.  Someone I used to know, told me not to worry about things that I couldn’t change.  That would be nice if there was an on/off switch when it come to worrying.  Mine would be in the off position all the time if it was that simple.  So how do you stop worrying?  That’s a great question.

I used to not really know the answer to this and I still don’t, but the way I deal with it is to think of that worse case scenario (that is probably never going to happen) and then I tell my self it can only get better from here.  Close your eyes and think realistically about what your worrying about.  If it is something you can change then by all means change it.  If it is something that can’t be changed, then try and focus on the positive that may come out of it.  Look for a learning lesson in everything that comes your way.

what else may be causing you to have a bad day?

peopletext

Other people.  It is sad but there is a few people out there that is not happy with themselves or their lives and they are going to cause you trouble.  The world is full of ruthless people that is going to do all they can to make you feel like dirt.  It happens to me quite a bit.  How do I overcome?  Number 1, don’t stoop to their level.  That is what they want.  I have to remind myself daily that other peoples opinions and feelings are their own and really none of my business.  It is sometimes hard to swallow this bit of philosophy when someone has really offended you with their opinions and actions.  Usually just ignoring someone and not letting them see your pain is the best way to shut someone up.  In fact when someone that is trying to stir the pot sees you going on with your happy life that is the sweetest revenge.

moneytext

Money is another thing that really weighs a factor in everyday life with a lot of people.  We need it to survive.  When there is more bills going out then money coming in sometimes it starts weighing us down.  Just take a deep breathe.  This too will go away and get better.  You may have to make a lot of phone calls to work out payment plans but it can be done.  Try and think back to the last time you lost a nights sleep over not knowing if you were going to have a place to sleep in the next night.  You made it through didn’t you?  If you did it before, you will do it again.  Something always comes up.

The one thing that is really the hardest of all is dealing with a loss of a loved one.  I have lost a lot of people in my life and sometimes I get to the point to where I just want to crawl into a ball and give up altogether.  We can’t do that.  The heaviness that you feel on your chest penetrating into your heart will also go away.  The only possible way I have found to get me through times like this is by assuring myself that there was nothing I could have done to have changed this situation.  As long as I can hold on to the good times and know the person was happy while they were here then that is what I hold on to.  The memories, the happy thoughts.

Here is a few ideas that will maybe help you get your feelings out in a positive way no matter what you are facing.

  • writing-  write down your feelings or make a story up.  Let yourself go to a different world other then the one your in right now at your toughest moment.
  • reading-  find a good book.  No matter if it is one you have read a 100 times already.  Some of my favorite books have the covers falling off where I have reread them.
  • Draw-  You don’t have to be a professional.  If all you do is scribble on a notebook.  Do it. You may surprise yourself.
  • Go out-  No matter if it is shopping or for a walk.  Just get out and look for the beauty in the world.
  • Take pictures-  You never know what you might capture
  • Watch tv-  Find a great show and get hooked on it!
  • ConfideFind someone you can trust and talk to them, it isn’t good to hold things in all the time.
  • Exercise- go for a walk, jump up and down,,  Get that energy out.
